The 2009 Armenia Bird Trail encompasses critical and diverse bird habitats throughout the heart of the republic. Encompassing areas as diverse as the lush Armash Fish Ponds and the arid steppes of Uranots in the Ararat Valley, the trail traces 350 kilometers that skirt the Geghama Mountain Range and include the Important Bird Area in Noravank Canyon (Vayots Dzor region), the rich Lichk Bird nature area and the Armenian Sea Gull breeding area at Norashen.
