Urartu's sophisticated forge skills are illustrated by its weapons—arrowheads, spear, quiver, chain mail, helmet, shield and chariot remnants, as well as military mural fragments found in Teishebaini (Karmir Blur) and Erebuni.

We can form an idea of an Urartian warrior's arms and accoutrement from the bas-relief on the Balawat Gates attributed to Shalmaneser III (859-824 BCE). Urartian warriors are shown wearing helmets and short tunics with broad belts, armed with a short spear, bow and small shield. They match numerous items unearthed during excavations of Teisheba, some of which bear Urartian royal cuneiform inscriptions.
